April 2014

Tore the whole dash out of the jeep....again. Ugh. But David got things fixed.

Conference Sunday made donuts. So delicious!

Soaked up some sun while studying.  (The yard is much more green now)

Joe and Felicia and kids came up at the end of the semester to visit and then took David home with them to play while I started my internship. He didn't have to work that week so the timing was perfect.
We've had these red leather boots in the closet for years. James' PJ outfit was begging for them to be pulled out. Can that red-head get any cuter???

I finished my first week of my internship and headed down to Salt Lake to meet up with David and family for Easter weekend.
Dying eggs.

And sweet Chelsie started the process of bringing my hair back to blonde.

While there we finally announced the news about our growing lil' gummy bear. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up with everyone in one spot and getting to see the big reaction. Plus we concocted a fun way to spill the beans that worked well with the easter season. There's a video somewhere, but all you can hear is Nessie screaming. haha.
We gave Amelia a puzzle (of a cute yellow chick) with a note on the back that said there's another egg to find with a big surprise inside. We got everyone outside and David hid the egg (which looked like a cute yellow chick). When everyone came back in it was a mad house. I've never seen an apartment torn apart so fast. Sorry, Felicia. Finally the egg was found! Nessie opened it and ignored the black and white picture (she said she thought it was a map or something to another egg) and began reading the back which said: "We're EGGspecting this chick to hatch in October!" She stumbled over the EGGspecting part and then it clicked before she could finish reading and she was screaming and jumping and down. It was pretty great.

We also sent the same message in an egg with some candy via snail mail to our grandparents and all my siblings to be opened Easter weekend. It was fun getting all their sweet messages of surprise and excitement as the weekend rolled out. And it was nice to be around family without David reminding me to, "Suck it in!"

Cute boys sending me some love during my first week of my internship.

I should also mention that David made it through his second chemistry class! These classes are repeated more often than not, but mister D got through them both in one try. Oh happy day!

February 2014

February. We did some stuff. And if I didn't have pictures I wouldn't remember it.
But first, a few things about the fun classes I'm taking this semester.
Here is one of my attempts at a corsage. Floral design is part of the required work for the Hort major, otherwise I don't think I would have taken this class, but I really love it. And I have complete and total respect for florists now. Wooza. So much skill is involved in seemingly simple things, I could never be a floral designer.
Obviously, part of the class is flower i.d. Honestly, I could probably identify maybe 5 flowers before this class, but I'm getting close to the 100 mark now, and I think that's pretty cool.

My second fun class this semester is clothing construction, but it is actually really hard and stressful. Here is my shirt pattern all laid out and ready to cut.
And here's a pair of PJ pants I made. This was our second project, the shirt is our third, and we'll be finishing the semester with a skirt.
But seriously, the class is hard. The teacher looks at every stitch and measures everything and ahhhhh. Kind of takes the fun out of sewing, but I've learned a lot and that's what I wanted.

David totally won at Valentine's Day this year. I don't care what your husband did or how much he spent, David still totally wins. The only thing we planned was trying out Chiz's- a small restaurant in St.Anthony. We drove up to St.Anthony to find that the place is beyond packed, duh, so we drove back to Rexburg and just went to Arby's. (But we did try Chiz's last weekend and it was glorious.) We went home and contemplated going to see Thor at the cheap theater. But then David whips out a treasure hunt for me! He had little clues hidden all around the house and shop attached to something- a stack of pallets he collected (I have a few projects on my to do list), a throw pillow (you can see some of it in the picture below), new boots that he got a stealer deal on (see RV photo below), and this sign that he made!
I was so shocked to see this and everything else. And then to see that he made this whole thing himself just brought me to tears. This is one of my favorite songs from the musical "Guys and Dolls" and I'll sing it to my mister every now and then. He found these boards, put them together, stained them, mixed paint until he had the perfect color, laid out stencils, and painted the letters in. Ohhhh my heart, my heart, be still. It is seriously so perfectly adorable and so well made. I love it so much. I should have been tipped off though because earlier in the week I texted him a line of this song (I love you, a bushel and a peck), and he responded right back with the next phrase (And a hug around the neck). So I texted the next phrase (and a barrel and a heap), and he got right back with the line after that one (and I'm talkin' in my sleep about you!). Because he'd looked up the words and was painting them totally under my nose. The other thing that totally surprised me about how he did so much, and I had no idea, is that he also had a chemistry test on Valentine's Day that he had been studying for all week. Not only was he working hard to do well on that (and he did sooo well on it!) but he was creating this thing of beauty for me. My oh my if I didn't pick a good one.

Our friend, Janet, works for Bisch's RV, so we went to visit her at the RV show in IF on our Monday off. They had this darling little photo booth set up. My mind was BLOWN AWAY with how fancy RV's and trailers are these days. Holy moly.

Speaking of our friends (yes, we made friends!), we tried to make an igloo in the front yard with Brandon and Janet. We got the snow all piled up in one place, and then you have to wait to let it "compact." At least, that's Brandon the igloo building expert said. And of course after we get our mountain built we don't have snow for 2 weeks and everything melts. Sigh. But it did snow all day yesterday, and it's supposed to be colder this week, so maybe we'll get to dig out our igloo after all.

AND THEN we had a spontaneous trip down to Utah. We really wanted to play with family, and we'd been thinking heading down there for a quick weekend for a while. And then Friday morning we got a text from Joseph saying that we should come down and pick him up from the SLC airport (as he had a job interview in Salt Lake that weekend). So we decided to go for it. And it was great. We finished classes and work on Friday and got to Provo around 10 that night. We played hard on Saturday and then just hung out on Sunday. And it just so happened that my brother, Daniel, and his wife, Tricia, were singing in sacrament mtg for their ward and I was able to be their piano accompanist on Sunday. No wonder we felt so good about bugging out of town. We got to see a lot of family and offer some of our services- taxi, child care, and piano skills. Pretty much, it's a really sad situation if we're not your aunt, uncle, brother, or sister. ;)

I got to hang out with these guys all day on Saturday as we rode the train up to Salt Lake and then played in the city. (David was grabbing Joe from the airport and they went to the BYU basketball game) Afterwards we met up with everyone for dinner. We got to see Daniel's family and Jenette and just enjoy being with the fam.

Krugh was beyond excited to ride the train, always saying things from Thomas the Train- clickety clack down the track....

And Jade is beyond adorable always.
Just look at that face!!!! (not mine) She kind of looks like she's from Whoville in this picture. tehehe.

And we finally got to see this new little one. She is such a doll! Such a happy, happy, girl that just smiles at you all day long. (I didn't think to get a picture of her when she was actually awake.)
Good gravy, I wanted to take her home with us.

One year older

And more handsome too!
David's birthday is tomorrow.
He's kind of freaking out because he thinks he's getting old or something.
He will be a whopping 2-6.
I just wanted to quickly write down a few things about this happy man with whom I get to share my days. My 9:00 a.m. class was canceled today, so after driving the Mr. to campus (it is his birthday after all- no walking for the birthday boy!) and then running a quick errand this morning, I have a few minutes before I need to leave for my next class.

I've been sick the last week (the cough and cold variety), and he's been totally winning at being a husband. I get home from work and school and the laundry is folded and put away, dishes are done, dinner is ready; he comes home from work in the mornings and makes breakfast and wakes me up. I should be sick more often!
He always has funny stories to share or something to make me laugh.
In conversing with me, he likes to start his sentences with, "Well darlin'..."
He can be so silly and carefree it makes me smile. For example, I frequently catch him practicing dance moves in the kitchen.
Speaking of dancing in the kitchen, he loves to pull me close and dance in the kitchen.
He is working so hard in school.
He isn't late to work. I don't know how he just wakes up every day at 3:45 a.m. Ugh!
He is kind to everybody and he's not afraid to jump right in and help someone. For example, several times this semester he's helped a few wheel-chair bound souls get to their destination through the rain, hills, and slick roads. He says at first they tell him they don't need help, but David just starts talking and pushing, and soon enough they are talking back and telling stories and laughing. I wish I could see this.
He can grow an awesome beard.
He has the cutest most perfect feet. Ask him about them next time you see him, he might just show them off to you.
He manages his time sooo well and keeps his focus while working on school. He will plow through assignment after assignment without getting distracted. It puts me to shame.
He gives me compliments all the time, and isn't shy about staring into my eyes and saying, "You're boooootifoool."
I really do feel like the luckiest girl in the world because he chose me and I get to be his.
And now I'm crying (lately that's been happening more than I care to admit... I blame sleep deprivation) so I'll just put up some photos and get out of here and get to class.

Happy Birthday David Scott version 2.0!!!

These first three pics are just randoms that are on the photobooth album.

He's going to kill me after seeing this one. :)

He certainly is the best Uncle any little girl  could ask for.

And this mirrored picture of Krugh makes me smile so it had to be included. :)

First day of walking to campus in the snow! (I know you can't see any snow in the picture- it was very wet stuff that day- but I assure you it was snowing!)

I love you, David!

Don'cha wish yer Wife...

...wore Camo like me!?
g camo
David finally finished his classes for the summer!!! To celebrate, we journeyed to Sportsman Warehouse waayyyy out in vegas and wandered their aisles for a few hours. We could spend all day in that place. Afterwards, we dined at Smashburger- wowza. So good!
And lucky me! We finally found some camo that fit me and was matching brand/patterns. Every time we look to outfit me,  there is either nothing in women's sizes, they're sold out of my size, or the correct sizes are in different prints. Not just at the warehouse, but anywhere. arghh! But this trip was a success!
Something else we're celebrating this week- David's last 4 days at Cintas!!!!! Glory, glory, hallelujah has been ringing in my mind, and I might occasionally burst it out. Cause seriously. We are so close to having a normal life back!!!! 3 more days now. just 3.more.days!
David is finally taking the plunge and going to do school full time. Something that is near impossible while working full-time at cintas. Which means we're doing a role-reversal and I'll be the one working full-time. I have a few items in the fire right now, we'll see if anything works out. If not, we'll survive on what I make teaching piano.
I am so excited for David! He can finally sleep ( I was going to say have a normal sleep schedule, but really what it comes down to is that he can finally sleep. period.). We can finally stay out a little later and party with family and friends without having to be home around 7:30-8 so David can get a "nap" in before leaving for work. We can finally fill his school schedule with more than 6-9 credits and not have to triple check that they start sometime after 5 p.m. He can finally really start pounding away at school! He is so close to being done with his Associate's degree and has worked soo so hard. I'm super impressed with how high his grades are and how many classes he has tackled while working full-time. Have I mentioned that I LOVE that he is such a hard worker??! Single ladies, take note: the man you want to marry is one who knows how to do work! This fall is going to be very different one for us. Only one of us will be going to school- David. And only one of us will be working- me. We've both been doing both since we were married over 2 years ago. It will be nice for both of us to be able to focus on just one thing. Although, David is saying that once school starts and he gets a feel for the work load in his classes, he would be willing to work part time. Love that man! The only thing that has us worried about this life change is not having health insurance anymore! We take solace in that we're both healthy as racing horses (har har), minus the occasional cold sore outbreaks (of which I am suffering from right now and David is on the verge of one...), and we hope we can stay that way until we figure out what to do.
How's that for a life update? More details later...

Another semester bites the dust

At the middle of May we both completed yet another semester of school.
I had 15 credits and 25 piano students.
David had 10 credits and worked 40 hours a week.
We rarely saw each other. The rare occasion that we were both home at the same time, we were both working on homework.
Oh what exciting lives we live!
We weren't sad at all when we packed up our books from the semester:
Photobucket
I'm done with school for the time being. 4 years and 3 schools to get an Associate's Degree- I don't recommend this academic path to anyone, everrrr. David is already back in school mode and is taking two, 3-credit, classes for 6 weeks, and then another 6-week long 3-credit class after this first 6-week session. 9 credits total for the summer, while still working full-time. He is also the Webelos leader for our ward and does an awesome job. The boys love him; who doesn't?
Come August David will be done with school and work!!!!! He is counting down the days. But not because he'll be done with school for the summer as well as work. David has a huge fountain of luck and somehow managed to draw a deer tag, AGAIN- without any bonus points. It's for the archery hunt, which starts in August. So on top of working, and Scouts, and getting school taken care of, he's also in the backyard almost every day shooting his bow. August can't come soon enough!

Fantasmic!

On Tuesday night of our Disneyland adventure, we wandered over to The Rivers of America to catch the Fantasmic show! I think that's what it was called anyway. It was awesome! But the evil witches are really creepy and could totally be nightmare inducing for small children.
And then we went and waited in line for the AtroOrbiter ride, or something. The one for kids at the entrance for Tomorrow Land with space rockets and planets. Yah, we waited in line for that ride. Because, hello! I had never done that one before and I was on a mission to go on the rides that I had never been on. Mission accomplished, again!

Also, about an hour and a half ago, we got home from a double header softball games. It was the last game for a coed league and a team was forfeiting, so Turner made his own team so that league team could actually play their last game. Kinda feel bad about it now. We totally killed the poor team. hmm. Maybe we should be an official team, guys! Guys! Yes!? no? ...anyway... David and I both played well. We found out that D is a star pitcher. woot! And that Shelly, yes- little, dancer, Shelly, is down for softball. She even had a few homeruns!!!! fist pumps Chest bump!hoorah!
I just spent the last hour and a half looking through the blog instead of finishing my English assignment that's due tomorrow. It's just too much fun sometimes to look back and remember. ...I really should go finish school stuff...humunuh.

How things work 'round here

David works works works works all the day long.
And I come to wherever he may be, these days it's the garage, and feed him.
A man can't work if he's hungry! Oh wait, this one can. He gets so fixed on whatever project he has that he works it without taking a rest until its done. I used to have a love/hate relationship with this. LOVE love love that he is SUCH a HARD worker. When we were first married I would get so annoyed when he wouldn't stop for 10-15 minutes to come inside and sit and have breakfast/lunch/dinner with me.
Solution: bring the sustenance to the man. And spoon feed him when he has hands-elbows so covered in grease that you don't know what his real skin color is anymore.

On a related note- I am so glad I married such a handy man.
On another related note- the jeep is almost all the way done. Last weekend he finished putting the dashboard back together (successfully!) Yesterday it got new motors for the rear windows and a new power steering pump. All done by David. Oh, and Chris too. They fixed a window each. I went out to the garage to see what the status was, and it was fun to sit back and observe. As a young[er] girl I used to worry about how/if my husband would fit in with my brothers. David fits like a glove. However, I fear that some of the family's "humor" has taken too great a hold on David. And it all comes out whenever David is around his mother. Mother does not appreciate this new behavior. And that's all I have to say about that.

But life is good. And God is great. And good friends are great to have.

Little People

Got to spend some time with these pretty things the last few days.
Miss Jade is quite good at getting where she wants to be, no crawling necessary. She just rolls and rolls until she arrives at her destination. It's pretty funny to watch.
Sabey loved my sunglasses and asked to wear them whenever we were outside or in the car. When she was in her own size car, she danced her cares away.
Speaking of cars:
the Jeep is up and running great!
As we were getting ready to go to the DMV on Saturday getting it registered and licensed ($$$$$ boo!), we noticed that the previous owner didn't sign the title! annoying. We called and texted but they didn't get back to us til' Saturday night. Hopefully David can arrange a time to meet up on Monday to get this minor detail out of the way so we can get the Jeep legal to drive. Because, as luck would have it, the Dodge is undriveable (is that a word? I think not). One of its many problems is that the front passenger tire has a leak, and David has to put air in it every other day or so. Friday after work he went to put air in it so he could get home because it was completely flat, but the air stem was gone. Broke off or pushed down into the tire. So David drove home, on the freeway, with a flat tire on the verge of a blow-out. Ahhh! My stomach did flip flops as he told me this. Anyway, David has the Subaru, which leaves me borrowing cars, asking for rides, or walking. Which I don't mind, it's not like I have very far to go these days. It just would be nice to have our "new vehicle" officially ready to go.
Still have a few minor things to fix, but we'll slowly be getting to those. I don't know why I just used "we". Clearly, David is the one that has fixed everything and will continue to be the superman and fix things up as needed. He's so handy to have around.

Can't breathe

I've been watching my boyfriend do p90x with a backpack FULL of HEAVY textbooks.
whooo! heee.heee.hooo.
as if p90 isn't hard enough

After watching in awe and recovering my breath, I decided I should probably get up and do something myself.
Today was a "light" day for me, here's what I did:
50 jumping jacks
10 push ups
20 sit ups
25 mountain climbers
30 second plank
20squats
30 lunges
40 toe touches
50 second wall sit
100 jumping jacks
50 second wall sit
40 toe touches
30 lunges
20 squats
50 jumping jacks
10 push ups
20 sit ups
25 mountain climbers
30 second plank

.:otherwise known as a pyramid workout:.
(modified by mwah)
It doesn't take much time, it's simple, no special equipment needed, you can do it anywhere and I highly recommend it for a quick "tighten and tone" session (or as an every day wake yourself up; no coffee or 5-hour energies needed in this house [nor have they ever been present]).
note on push-ups: be a big girl- get off the knees!

J. double E. to the P

What does that spell?
JEEP
I don't feel like typing this all out again, so here is a copy and paste from an email that was going around in my family that explains things [an email asking who was going to be able to make it to which family reunions this summer]:
We're not sure yet if we'll be able to make it for any summer activinies. Depends on if we'll be in Alaska working or not. If we're in Alaska, then it's a no go for both reunions. But if we're in Reno then we can do both and whatever dates are chosen for the gas reunion we will make work.  :)
Isn't life so fun and exciting???
Speaking of fun and exciting: David just finished pulling in our latest purchase: a 2003 jeep grand Cherokee. He's been looking around on Craigslist lately because his car is doomed to go kaput any day.  The owner of the jeep didn't know what was wrong with it and they just wanted to sell it for what they thought it was worth. David and Lonney went to look at it, and a plugged Cadillac catalytic converter (? You'll have talk to David for the details) is the problem. This should be a relatively inexpensive fix. So the vehicle is actually worth much much more than what the owners thought. David was able to buy it for half of what its worth. I don't know to feel elated or guilty that we got a JEEP for Soo little. So we now have a stinkin nice jeep, that goes about 10mph. Yeehaw!!! This will be David's little side project after work and school this semester. We're crossing our fingers that the purple dodge will last a little bit longer (it has multiple problems and we're just shocked that it still runs) until David has the jeep ready to go.
There, now everyone is caught up with our latest news and excitement. :) call if you would like more details.
"I don't know if you can tell, 'cause I'm trying really hard to contain myself...but I am so excited!!!!" David's words.
This is our first car bought together as Husband and Wife. So it was kinda exciting and a real big deal, thus needing much documentation.
And did you catch that little tease in the email that we have yet to release to blogland? Until now!
'Tis true: We will either be in Alaska or Reno come May.
More info and details to come at a later time.

All Done! [for now]

Remember when the front of our little space used to look something like this?
(ignore the bottom two pics)

Well, check it out now!
I got home from St. George on Saturday to find that David finished setting the last couple stones in our pathway AND put in a cuhute little planter box for me!!!
I love it.
Monday I ran to Lowe's to get flowers and some good dirt and immediately got started on putting all these pretty things in my own little front yard. ;)
I think it turned out great!
From the front door
from the car door
from the top of our little pathway
Did I mention that I love it???
ALL of the stones and retaining wall bricks were leftovers just sitting in the corner of Grandpa's backyard. This project was pretty darn close to Free.99. Which makes it even better!

Twenty-Four years ago today...

...a hunter was born.
Is he not the most adorable thing ever????
For David's birthday I've been working on a little something that required some pictures.
Well, ask and ye shall receive! I only asked for a few specific photos, but Mama loaded me up!!! I love them all. And although I'm not using any of these ones for my little project (which isn't finished yet and will turn into a Christmas gift instead), I have to share them. David is too cute! He melts me. I think it's safe to say that our children will be beyond adorable.

Ok, I'm done now...'til next year!!!
and...oh right. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!!
I love you!
One quick fact about the man:
Anyone who knows him, anyone that has worked with him, anyone who has heard about him, and those who are closest to him have only the best things to say about him.
I think that is a huge compliment and so telling of what a good GOOD soul he is.
I am humbled on the daily that he chose to marry me!
