{Tipful Tuesday}

When faced with the choice of hopping the wall to retrieve a basketball from the neighbor's yard that is home to two huge dogs, choose to just get another basketball.
Lesson learned here.

This is the back of David's leg. From one dog. From one bite. BIG DOG!
I've been working hard to keep it clean and infection-free.
Lucky for him it didn't really pierce the skin. Either way, I've been watching it like a hawk and waking up with him in the mornings (2 in the stinkin' a.m.) to clean and bandage it before work. And then I can't fall asleep after he leaves cause I'm worried it will get infected.
Bleh...no sleep makes for a long week.
But oh right, this is about poor David's leg, not my sleeping patterns.
POOR DAVID!!! He's a tough cookie though. He hasn't complained about it AT ALL. (well okay, so he flinches a bit when I scrub him down with Betadine, but other than that...) The bruises look even more terrible in real life. Poor, poor David.

A little adventure.

Two weeks ago we went on a little adventure (the 14th). Monday night we were trying to decide what we wanted to do Tuesday when David got home and Wednesday (his day off). Chris told us about this little desert oasis he found and we decided we wanted to check it out as well. So as soon as David got home we got everything packed up and headed out (thank you Grandpa for letting us take your truck and 4-wheeler!)
I don't know if Chris wants me to share his secret spot with the worldwide web, so just know that we basically drove to the middle of nowhere southern Nevada,
drove south on a dirt road for a bit, then headed toward the mountains. At a certain point we unloaded the 4-wheeler, tied down all of our gear, and then rode in for about another 5 miles.
Funny story 1: When we parked the truck, David was scanning the area, and then says to me- "Do you see that jack rabbit?" I'm trying to find a hippity hoppity rabbit bouncing through the sagebrush. "Negative" I say not seeing anything move. David then proceeds to give me directions of where to zone in to find said rabbit. "You see that bigger bush on the left? And that other bigger bush to the right of that one?" "Mmmhm" I reply. "Well between those two you can see the tips of its ears."
What the what what??? I was reminded again of why I called him eagle eye when we were dating. Seriously, only an inch or inch and a half of those ears were poking up. And even then, I would have passed them off as some sort of plant. iuhknow.
David then turned to me and asked with youthful pleading, "Can I shoot 'im? Please?" "Sure!"
David then quickly proceeded to take out his rifle, load, aim, and shoot. And then he nailed the poor little bugger.
As I was taking this photo, he was grossed out by how many tics were all over it and urged me to "Hurry up and take the picutre!"

Funny story 2: At one point we needed to stop to tie something down that was on the verge of being lost (it was David's sleeping bag, and he didn't want to take any chances). Not having anywhere else to strap his rifle on the 4-wheeler, David just had it slung across his back. As he was turning to climb off, the barrel of the rifle swung back and whacked me right on the bridge of my nose. Owww! The look on David's face was so sad and he felt so bad about it that all we could do was laugh about it..after some blank blank words may or may not have escaped from my mouth. It's a good thing my nose isn't one for bleeding, because a nose bleed most definitely would have been a set back as were already pushed for time trying to find a camp site before the sun got away from us. (when we got home the next day after I washed my face I noticed a good-sized patch of red on my schnozz. Interested, I leaned in closer thinking it was an odd sunburn or zit. After touching it I realized it was bruised from my meeting with the end of D's gun. hahahha)

Anyway, we found a place to pitch our tent and make camp for the night and eat our hobo dinners. Yum!
The next morning we went exploring. We went as far as we could with the 4-wheeler and then hiked up between some mountains in search of the water source Chris told us about. We're not sure if we found what he was referring to, but we did find a few spots with water coming out of the rock. It was pretty cool! You can tell that this area must have some sort of water source, because the mountain looked lush and green (for desert standards)
The mountains around this area were extremely sparse and brown in comparison. On our way we saw lots of cow pies and tracks, and to David's giddish delight, deer tracks and deer rubs.
Before we headed back down, David tested out his scope. It met his approval.  After seeing some buck tracks and lots of rubs, David was really intent on finding a shed or two. Sadly, we came across none. But I have a feeling that we'll back in the fall in search of some then.
And then he showed me his saweet hat hair.
Hot stuff!
And then we headed back down to the four-wheeler where we saw several cows (it was really weird) and back to our camp, packed everything up and headed out. It was getting hot!
I had to take a photo to prove that I was in fact present on this little journey.
I love having David all to myself and I'm so glad we went and explored this area.
We're "Makin' Memories!" (as Mama Nessie would say)

A trip to the Shops

I couldn't post these pics a few weeks ago, because then David would demand to know why I went to Bass Pro Shops without him. And if he pushed the question than I most definitely would have spilled the beans on his fishing gear gift. I have to admit, I have never been to Bass Pro or Cabela's without David by my side, so it was really strange not having him there. But these two and Felicia were excellent company. :)
Mesmerized by the disgustingly ginormous catfish.

Playin' with the golf simulator.

After we got back we headed for the pool.

I think Miss Millie is a little water baby. She was loving it even though it was kind of windy.

This summer has been one of the most laid back ones since before I was in high school I think. I could definitely get used to it! Poor David, he works all day and I play all day (for the most part).

Just Fishin'

I thought I posted this yesterday, but I guess not! woops!

Happy Father's Day!!!
Have you heard this song on the radio? I think it's so cute! Especially because I know David will be doing this with our future little ones.

Just Fishin’ Lyrics
by Trace Adkins
I’m lost in her there holding that pink rod and reel.
She’s doing almost everything but sitting still.
Talking about her ballet shoes and training wheels, and her kittens.
And she thinks we’re just fishin’.
I say daddy loves you baby one more time,
She says I know, I think I got a bite.
And all this laughing, crying, smiling, dying here inside
Is what I call living
And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the river side,
Throwing back what we could fry,
Drowning worms an killing time,
Nothing too ambitious
She ain’t even thinking about what’s really going on right now
But I guarantee this memories a big one
And she thinks we’re just fishin’
She’s already pretty, like her momma is
Gonna drive the boy’s all crazy
Giver her daddy fits
And I better do this every chance I get
’cause time is ticking
And she thinks we’re just fishin’ on the river side,
Throwing back what we could fry,
Drowning worms an killing time,
Nothing too ambitious
She ain’t even thinking about what’s really going on right now
But I guarantee this memories a big one
And she thinks we’re just fishin’
She ain’t even thinking about what’s really going on right now
But I guarantee this memories a big one
And she thinks we’re just fishin’
Yeah, she thinks we’re just fishin’
We ain’t only fishin’
This ain’t about fishin’
Speaking of David and fishing, I got him a tackle box filled with fishing supplies for father's day. He needed to replace his old, destroyed, stuff and I thought it would be fun to surprise him. I had to wait for like 2.5 weeks to give it to him, and it was so hard for me to not tell him about it sooner! I had it hidden in a bass pro bag upstairs. Yesterday morning I sent him this text:  I know you're not a father yet, but I feel like I got such a great CATCH when I REELED you in, that I couldn't resist getting you a little something on this day. And then I gave him clues of where he would find his surprise.
I wish I had a camera with me when he found it and opened everything up. He was so excited. He said it was better than christmas. :) And big kudos to me: he nodded his head, smiled, and was sayin', "good, good" to all the different lines, lures, hooks, etc I got. He only wants to take one thing back to get something a little different. Only ONE. UNO. Ok, so I can't take full credit for grabbing the stuff he would want/need. I took Preston with me and he helped me with everything. :) Thanks P!
anyway...Happy Father's Day (again)
now let's all go fishin'!

{Sunday Dessert}...A New Daily Special

{Sunday Dessert}
A series dedicated to our "Sunday Best" dress.
I don't get dressed and "cutesy" all that often. I'm more of a hurry and throw on jeans and a t-shirt kind of gal. But I posses an inner fashionista that comes out full force on Sundays. When asked what his favorite outfit of mine is, David replies "Sunday Clothes!". I guess he likes me all dolled up. (hint hint Giulia! You should beautify yourself more often) Good thing he likes me just as much all tamed down. :) Either way, it's always a "treat" [dessert] when I don a pair of heels and lipstick.

and because we never did get around to taking any pictures today...here's the best of what I could find on my laptop. Which is really sad, because you can't really see the whole outfit + this is from Fall '09. haha! This series is off to a great start!! Oh well. I still like and use these two items frequently, so it counts. :)
the breakdown:
dress: Target clearance ~$8.00
belt: Plato's closet ~$3.00
