As noted previously, I spent all of May about two hours south. Here's what we did on my quick weekends at home:

No pictures, but we got the garden planted when I was home, most of it anyway. I would pull in Saturday night around 7:30 with seeds and starts from the greenhouse and we would get right to work until it was too dark to work anymore.

 Took a Sunday drive to Mesa Falls.

Found out that our lil' gummy bear is a boy! It was too exciting not to, so we made the news facebook official.

I would have loved to be a little more creative on the announcing part, but you can only do so much when you're home for about 48 hours, sleep time included. 

I couldn't resist this 'stache and bow tie balloon.

Kind of starting to show! I'll do a bump growth post later.

 

David hitched a ride and met me in Downey so that we could head to Jerrick's wedding reception in Utah. I wrapped my hair with paper towels to get a rag curl (thank you girls camp for teaching me valuable things like rag curls) on the ends, and then had a wet one wipe down in the car to make myself more wedding appropriate. Who needs running water and power to go from greenhouse grunge to wedding glam?

After the reception we went to the Boondocks to play with whatever family could make it. 

Mini golf, go-carts, batting cages, arcade, and the bumper boats- where Joseph lost his glasses in the pool. I think it was David, or maybe it was Uncle Joe, that shot his glasses off his face and down they went. It was pretty hilarious. We had a night full of laughs. It was great to hang out with family.

Visited all the family sites in the Blackfoot cemetery for Memorial Day with Uncle Klain and Aunt Elaine. I hadn't been here since 2001 for Grandma's funeral. It was great to visit when I am older and more appreciative of my family history. 

I put together the geranium wraps before leaving the greenhouses for the day. Pinks for Grandma Azalia and Red,White, & Blue for Grandpa Dean.

Baby Anne

We started our summer jobs. We're doing the same thing as last year- boat inspections at Henrys Lake. So for the weeks we had to be at Henrys- one weekend in May and one in June before I finished my internship- I only worked 5 days at the greenhouse instead of 6. So those weeks where I was working both I put in close to 80 hours. That was fun. Okay, maybe not so much. But you do what you gotta do!

The real fun part was taking the boat out again.

The Best 2 Years!

We just finished watching that movie at my parent's a few hours ago, and it reminded me that I have yet to post about our best 2 years.

We celebrated our 2 year anniversary at the beginning of January!!! 

just seeing that in writing is making my jaw drop. again. 2 years?!? 

The time has FLOWN by. 

I could get all mushy. but opting not to at the time being. I'll just give a quick break-down of how we partied. 

Got sweet deals at the Southpoint Hotel and Spa. 

brought my jar of cash earned from tips and piano and used that for everything except the hotel and spa.

       

went to the movies (Sherlock Holmes) and hung out with our favorite chipmunks!

did some bowling. where we each bowled our lowest scores ever!!!!

 Ate at "The Famous" Steak'n'Shake. It was pretty darn good. 

David surprised me with a Kindle Fire!!!! wowza. Was not expecting that! He loves to spoil me. :) 

Spent alll day at the spa on Monday (the 2nd, our anniversary day). It.was.glorious. They have a couples area/retreat so we actually got to hang out with each other instead of being in separate men/women areas the whole time. Fitness room, Sauna, steam room, spa/jacuzzi, lounge, food, MASSAGES. GLORIOUS!!! And then we got all dressed up and had an OK dinner at "Don Vito's". meh. not bad, but nothing to go back to. After din, walked through bass pro and picked up a few things for the man and dreamed about all the fun toys we will one day have. ;)

And then we got home and took these really awful self-timed photos!

                     

We love each other more than we did 2 years ago; something worth celebrating, indeed!

Summer 2011 Wrap due

Usually the big event that happens after a bridal shower is a wedding. Nothing crazy going on over here; a wedding is exactly what happened.

Summer 2011 Wrap uno

Not that this is surprising news, but I wasn't so great at taking photos of all our happenings and goin' ons this summer. Good thing that Felicia and her camera were always ready for most of anything that we did. The next few days will be dedicated to pictures and stories from this summer that have not yet been shared.

Tonight we'll start with Courtney's Berry Fabulous Bridal Shower, June 25th:

Bride to be with her Mom and Sisters (with her "berry fabulous bride" banner, which did not make it in the final crop)

The entry/exit:

we had a raffle entry (with ALL of the money going to the bride for whatever she wanted/needed), address your own Thank You (making the bride's life easier), and game score card pick-up

informative signs: "Help the Bride by filling in a few lines"; and "Keep BERRY CAREFUL track of your score"

And I promise you I did not put that frame around the "Thank you Berry Much" board like that. It must have been shifted to its photographed state and will forever be categorized as that awkwardly framed chalk board at Courtney's bridal shower.  Anyway...the party favor was Strawberry Jam. Delish. 

The Menu:

Berries, fruit salsa and cinna chips, cream-cheesed filled strawberries (thank you Little Lindsey!), all to use to one's chocolate fountain dipping pleasure, muffins, and ham&egg cups- which were divine (and never got pictured). Brianna was captain of the food department and she did a lovely job!!!

and Brianna was cute and pregnant (I just got a text from her saying that she's at the hospital workin' on birthing a baby. YAYYY!) and my Mom was telling some sort of awesome story, I'm sure. 

Games Games Games:

As guests mingled, they checked out this display of some of Courtney's photos and had to guess her age in each photo. If you were within 2months or 2 years you got 1/2 point, if you got the age correct you got 1 point (or something like that, I can't remember exactly how I worked the point system the day of)

pardon my awkwardness. But this is all I have with the Wedding Jeopardy board in the background. Did you miss that, we played a fun, quick round of "Wedding Jeopardy" filled with questions about Courtney, Courtney&Addam, Wedding Potpourrie, and some other category that I can't put my finger on at the moment. Humunuh, I'm doing a great job at this summer recap. Good thing that I made the board and wrote all the categories and questions and can't even remember what I did...Memory, why have you left me?

Prizes for the games: Bath'n' Body Works goodies (lucky that they were having a huge sale at the time). And the grand prize winner for the raffle was a gift card towards a "Spa Day". I PROMISE and cross my heart that the raffle was not rigged in any way. In fact, I couldn't have been more surprised and happy that Brianna won the raffle! too funny. She used the gift card for a well-deserved eight months pregnant facial. :)

We finished with a video of Addam answering questions that were equal parts hilarious and informative. If Courtney guessed his answer correctly, she got to open one of her gifts. If she got it wrong, we took a dollar out of her monies from the raffle jar. (but we gave it all back to her at the end, 'cause we're nice like that)

Overall, we think it turned out great! I wish I had taken photos of all the little details put into the decor that only I would notice. After finishing last semester I had a huge crafty itch that was begging to be scratched, and planning and throwing this shower did the trick. Thanks for being my partner in crime, Brianna (who will be a mother very soon and who will have a perfect lil' baby shower in her honor in a few more weeks- still waiting to know the whole boy/girl thing before I send those invites out) and thank you, Courtney, for being beautiful and wonderful and getting married! 

hmm, never knew that I was the tallest. Yeehaw- I'm the tallest!!!

{Hairy Thursday}

no tutorial today. sorry! 

but really, a braiding series is in the works. 

For today's {Hairy Thursday}, I need to make a public vow to never wear my hair down for a wedding EVER AGAIN! 

The pictures always are outside, and it seems to always be windy. And my hair and face always look ridiculous. For example:

I look much better here sans make-up and not yet having touched my hair.

And then I always end up pulling my hair back in whatever possible way given however many resources I have (i.e. bobby pins and elastics)

I must admit that this is not the first time I've set myself up for the heat and wind to shed light on my ridiculousness on special days. Let us look to the past for pictorial proof:


 

Brianna's Wedding:

Between the temple and reception venue I pulled away the hairs that were stuck to my lips and eyelashes (and also grabbed a date (a handsome and charming one to boot!)

Paige's wedding!

shortness of hair! I got out of the shower and hopped in the car the morning of this Idaho wedding where I was subsequently wedged in the back seat between Regan (pictured above) my mom, ...and someone else. So, hair air dried on the drive (which you can't really pull off very well with short hair) and when we got to the temple I ran inside [wearing sweats], changed into "nice" clothes and put a braid in to hold back the bangs. ay yi yi yi yi!

Breezy's Wedding!!! Although this was a rather windy day, I don't look quite as ridiculous as I feel.

Erin's wedding:  I don't feel too ridiculous; however, the sunshine on my blonde hair is making me look like I have a sweet bald patch. Awesome.

At least for these two I got it right:

Concluding thoughts:

1- That's a lot of wedding in two years! Wowza!

2- I now remember why I try to avoid pulling my hair up or to the side for wedding days. I feel like the bride will have a similar hair do and I don't want to step on her turf and have the same hair did!

3-So, sisters/friends/brides, are you happy? I allowed myself to look ridiculous so that I didn't risk copy-catting your hair! 

4- Luckily for Courtney's wedding I remembered that I never fair well with wedding pictures if my hair is down. Alas, I have no picture to prove that [yet]. 

5- I am tired and writing in a silly manner.
6- I'm on Facebook a lot more often now [the last week or so ish], and it's strange. I'm hardly ever on there! I don't know what happened to me.
